Care and maintenance of leather bags, storage

 
My bags are made to last, and I hope you will use them for a long time and that they will be a faithful companion in your everyday life.

In order to keep your leather bag with you for a long time and retain its original beauty, it needs to be cleaned and cared for from time to time. If you use it every day then, once a week, it needs to be cared for. Leather is a natural material, so it can stretch. To avoid distorting the shape of the bag, don’t overstuff it when you use it, and only put as much as you can comfortably fit inside.

CLEANING

First of all, keep the inside of your bag tidy – it may seem strange, but keeping the inside of your bag tidy is often a challenge. Everyday use and unnecessary overloading can also damage its form. So it’s worth taking everything out from time to time and cleaning the inside of the bag thoroughly. If you see a dirt or stain on the lining, remove it with a damp cloth or a fine textile fluid. It’s important to dry it thoroughly before putting it back in the box.

Cleaning the bag is a simple process that only requires regularity. If your bag gets messy, use a leather cleanser or lanolin wipes to wipe off the dust. The best is one without alcohol! (this is why baby wipes are good)  Never soak it in water, I do not put it in the washing machine!

CARE

Occasionally apply a colourless shoe polish or beeswax cream, conditioning is important as without it the leather will dry out and crack after a while.
To keep your bag soft and comfortable to the touch while in use, apply a little conditioner to a soft cloth and gently wipe it on. I recommend spaying at least once a year with an impregnating spay, which forms an invisible layer on the bag and prevents liquids and dirt from getting into the leather.

STORAGE

Usually we have seasonal bags, we put them away for a rest because of colour, style or seasonal change. If you want to store it safely, clean it carefully first and then fill it well so it keeps its shape, you can also use moisture absorbing balls. Keep the bag out of direct sunlight to prevent fading.
